The Altered adventure continues through Re:Union!
It’s been six months since Re:Union started a new chapter for Altered after Equinox finished theirs. In that time, the community has come together to continue the adventure.
For our first Re:Union newsletter, this is the perfect opportunity to look back at what we’ve accomplished so far!
- The game is now 100% free to play online: Commons, Rares, Exalted and even Uniques are available to all players to build decks and play online via Board Game Arena.
- You can now play with Set 6: Roots of Corruption is now online via BGA.
- There’s the new community-designed Frontier game mode on BGA Arena. The concept? 5,000 unique cards per faction, accessible to everyone, that rotate every six weeks. The card pool just refreshed this Tuesday, so it’s a great chance to discover some new gems
- We launched the Re:Union website, which has everything you need to get back into the game:
- A card database with a powerful unique search tab
- A deckbuilder that can be linked to BGA for online play
- Tournament recaps that lets you copy meta decks to try them out
- As of last week, you can play using the alternate art versions you own or have won in tournaments. If you haven't already imported your collection, you can do that here.
- You can now purchase official physical cards in packs (including Sets 6 and 7), thanks to Equinox.
As a competitive player, we’ve got a lot to offer:
- A weekly league organized by Benhol, consistently drawing 30–40 players: the Monday Night Topcut. Sign up for next Monday here.
- World qualifiers organized by Re:Union attracts a larger crowd. They are held every six weeks, four weeks after the Frontier pool rotation. The next one is October 25 and you can register right now, so there’s plenty of time to practice!
- The Arena mode, that has seen rising participation since the release of Set 6. It uses the new Frontier mode, which opens an entirely new challenge for competitive play.
As a casual player, you can now:
- Run a standard game in any one of our available modes! Turn-based play is especially popular right now, and the new Frontier mode is great in casual play as well. Copy one of the decks listed in our tournament recaps and try it out in play!
- Play one of the turn-based Sealed tournaments starting with Set 1, hosted by Nereid. Participation instructions are in the tournament description (registration for set 1 closes this Sunday).
- Enjoy Alteredle, an Altered-themed version of Wordle created by FragileClick
- Host or play in a community-run tournaments. Check out the list!
With all of these new and improved tools, it’s the perfect time to jump back in for a game! We’ve made huge progress in these few months as a community and have even bigger plans ahead. Come join the adventure with us!
