Altered Re:Union : Global Reporting – April 8th 2026
We are really happy to see that a massive amount of players joined the movement to give a future to the Altered TCG game after its editor, Equinox, decided to discontinue the game.
A lot of volunteers are giving their time to make this transition as smooth as possible. We are aware that the current state of the project can be hard to follow and opaque to many of you and we want to present the state of things at this date. We are making good progress and here is the first reporting of the project advancement and initial goals.
Organization of the community
Trying to organize ourselves in a democratic community with more than 1000 people is a difficult task from scratch since we had no prior structure and decision making processes.
The discord was spontaneously organized into teams based on skills / domains of activity. Then some members worked on a proposal for the community organization and governance and this led to the election of representatives for each team.
These will form the board of reps that will discuss at a global level the important decisions of the project and coordinate the whole effort. Remember that this board is temporary and will be reelected on a regular basis.
They are the one that wrote this document on behalf of the teams of the community.
What was done to this date:
- Structure discord with auto role assignment (link)
- Organization and governance proposal (link)
- Representatives elections for each team to form a governance and reporting board (representatives for each team)
- Meeting between VincentT on our behalf (bga dev) and Equinox (link to pool for Vincent to represent us and link to Vincent report)
- Initial discussion about preserving or not unique ownership (link)
- Initial dev implementation specs and architecture to replace altered.gg — State of the devs – Google Docs
- Initial work on a Logo for altered re:union (link)
- Notions meeting
- Wiki.gg
- Art team, Game Design, Lore worked creativity on several exciting ideas!
Global Objectives we are working on now:
Current global objectives for the game:
As you may know the digital infrastructure behind altered.gg (managing all the cards data, collections and decks) will be discontinued on May 31st and the game will not be playable on BGA anymore (except for demo decks) unless we act.
Time is running against us as we have to rebuild most of the underlying infrastructure and coordinate with Equinox for the transfer of data.
- The minimum objective is to have the game still playable on BGA after May 31st, at least as NUC. This will already require significant work from the developers and is not a trivial challenge.
- But we are aiming for more: Allowing to play with uniques and propose different play modes.
- Regarding ownership of uniques and the game formats that we will implement for bga, there has been a lot of debate about this and the community doesn’t seem to settle on an agreement for now. We are working on a way to help the community to come up with refined and exciting proposals before we move to the decision / voting step.
- We plan to implement sets 6 and 7 on bga but no expected date of release has been determined yet.
Current global objectives for Altered Re:Union group and the whole community:
- Determine processes to get each team to start working individually on some project
- Determine processes to coordinate all teams together with a common objective
- Finalize and approve the governance and organization proposal
- Setup a legal structure (and get help from lawyers of the community to determine what is the best option)
- Contract with equinox a licence for the IP of the game
- Determine a way to finance basic expenses (servers, domain names, online tools to collaborate…)
- Bring awareness to the global community about Altered Re:union: website, newsletter and start working on bug fixing for BGA to show that the game is still moving on.
- Meanwhile as a community we need to prepare ourselves to be able to decide democratically for the future of the game modes (ownership and other topics). For that we need to be able to better communicate and consult with the community as a whole.
Conclusion
The path we have taken is full of challenges. As you see we are moving forward. Good news, the community is full of talented people with very different backgrounds.
We are confident that we have the skills to achieve all the listed tasks. Though, new volunteers would be a big help. We know that a lot of you don’t know what to do and we are working to setup operational guidelines and tasks management/prioritization systems to include as many people as possible.
Yours truly, Altered Re:union’s representatives
