Starter Deck Contest — Voting Guide
How voting works
- Voting is organized per Hero
- For each Hero, you must rank submitted decks via Google Forms (Available when voting opens on May 9th, 2026)
- This is a full ranking system
- Rank #1 for the deck you think is the most suitable for this hero
- Rank #2 for the second most suitable
- and so on until all decks are ranked
Don’t worry — if there are too many submitted decks for a Hero, we will switch to a Top 5 ranking system to keep the voting process quick and simple.
Scoring system
For each Hero, if there are N decks submitted:
- 1st place → N points
- 2nd place → N – 1 points
- 3rd place → N – 2 points
- …
- Last place → 1 point
The deck with the highest total score wins for that Hero.
This approach ensures more consistent results, reduces the impact of outlier votes, and better reflects overall community preference.
Voting Guidelines
To avoid purely popularity-based results, all submissions will be anonymized and the dedicated forum 📥│starter-deck-proposals will be hidden during the voting period.
We ask every participant to respect this process and refrain from revealing or promoting the decks they submitted until voting has ended.
Each submission will also include a short deck description written by the creator, presenting the core strategy, key synergies, and why the deck works as a starter deck. We encourage voters to use both the decklist and this description when evaluating submissions.
When voting, please evaluate decks based on:
- Clarity — Is the deck easy to understand and pilot? Does it have a clear game plan and readable synergies?
- Starter-friendliness — Does it provide a smooth learning curve and a good experience for first-time players?
- Strategic coherence — Does the deck have a strong internal logic, consistent gameplay, and a clear identity?
- Representative of the Game — Does it showcase the Hero’s identity and core mechanics well? Does it use cards across multiple sets to better reflect the game?
- Balance vs Constructed Decks — Can it compete reasonably against constructed decks without being overwhelming for beginners?
- Playability & Consistency — Does the deck avoid overly niche, fragile, or high-variance strategies that could create frustrating experiences?

- Tie → the Board will suggest a way to define the winner
- Deckbuilding rules violation discovered after voting → next valid deck is selected
Post-Selection Follow-up
The selected decks will become the new reference Starter Decks on BGA and will serve as the main onboarding experience for new players.
After implementation, these decks will be monitored through BGA data and player feedback.
If a winning deck proves to be too problematic or too confusing for new players, small refinements may be proposed to improve balance and accessibility.
In preparation for the release of Set 6, all winning decks will also be re-evaluated to ensure they remain relevant and healthy for the evolving game environment. The process for this re-evaluation, as well as the people involved in it, will be discussed with the community.
