Support the Reunion Donors Program with a gift

Altered Re:Union is launching its Reunion Donors Program to establish a sustainable, recurring source of funding for the nonprofit association’s projects, giving Altered fans a way to support our work as we reach milestones on our Roadmap. We’re providing some details on this program, which will help maintain the project in a transparent, community-focused way.

We’ve already taken a few enormous steps toward our goals, such as bringing the Roots of Corruption set to Board Game Arena, adding new formats like the community-created Frontier mode and refreshing organized and competitive play. The altered.re website has seen multiple rounds of updates and new tools even since its launch earlier this year, all thanks to the hard work of our fully volunteer staff and the direct help of the wider community.

We’re doing our best to keep our costs as low as possible, but operational costs are a reality of the Re:Union project, even as a loi 1901 nonprofit. Support systems like the Reunion Donors Program will allow us to continue to build Altered, powered by the players.

Let’s be clear about a few things right up front: The Reunion Donors Program is intended to function as a voluntary act of community stewardship, not as a paywall or premium service membership. 

Volunteers and community members already contribute to the project in many different ways, including direct project support, event organization or operations support. We value all of those contributions just as much as financial support. This is not intended to make any separate groups of players and supporters. 

Regardless of anyone’s contributions, we’re always going to build around these principles:

• No gameplay advantages
• No governance privileges
• No pay-to-win systems
• A sustainable operational scope
• Transparent financial practices

Our goal is to use a starting framework that’s easy to understand and aligns with how the community is able to help us. We’ve got multiple tiers available for community support starting at about €4 (about $4.60) per month, roughly the same cost as a pack of Altered cards for most players.

While there won’t be any direct advantage or reward for supporting us, some options might include being listed on our supporter wall on the altered.re site or cosmetic recognition on Discord. Our status as a nonprofit gives us strict rules that we have to abide by related to providing rewards in relation to donations. Just remember that every update we make to BGA, every new feature we add to the website, every time we launch another tournament or build another new set: You helped make that happen. 

We’ve partnered with HelloAsso, a third-party service specifically built to provide the maximum amount of donations directly to nonprofit organizations. This will allow us to work with players all around the world to accept donations. When you visit our page there, you can sign up at one of the listed tiers. That’s all there is to it!

We’ll be accountable and transparent for how we’re making use of your donations. Financial operations especially as they relate to the Reunion Donors Program will remain subject to our Re:Union governance oversight team, as well as any future financial policies adopted by the nonprofit. We’ll provide quarterly community financial updates, so it’s always clear where we stand.
